On July 14th, hundreds of Afghans crowded around our distribution center in Afghanistan’s capital, Kabul, in hopes of securing our hemp-infused naan to bring home to their families. We were able to produce over 2,500 naans which fed about 500 families. Our hemp-infused naan is a great alternative to the traditional Afghan naan due to the hemp flour used. 100 grams of hemp flour provides 33 grams of protein, 41 grams of fiber, 8 grams of omega fats, and other nutrients like iron and potassium. After eating our naan, people reported feeling fuller and related the taste to that of an organic, nutty-flavored naan that is traditionally eaten in rural Afghan provinces.

Hemp Aid aims to tackle hunger crises by teaching farmers hemp cultivation and baking to get a consistent supply of hemp-infused naan.  We have already worked with farmers, bakers, and distributors to ensure an easy seed-to-naan process and feed the millions that are starved.
